Binghamton University acceptance with ADHD

Alex Leopold transformed what could have been an overwhelming college application process into a manageable, successful journey for my son Javier, who has ADHD. Working together from April 2022 through January 2023, Alex helped Javier gain acceptance to his first-choice school, Binghamton University, plus seven additional excellent institutions including Penn State, UMass Amherst, Virginia Tech, and SUNY Buffalo Honors College.

What made Alex exceptional was his understanding of how ADHD affects organization and time management during high-pressure situations. He broke down the massive college application process into smaller, achievable tasks that Javier could handle without feeling overwhelmed. Alex created detailed timelines and checkpoint systems that kept my son on track with every deadline—and amazingly, Alex ensured that every single essay was completed with time to spare.

Alex's motivational interviewing techniques were particularly effective in helping Javier brainstorm, outline, and write compelling essays. Rather than simply telling him what to write, Alex guided Javier through thoughtful conversations that helped him discover his own voice and authentic stories. This approach was crucial for a teenager with ADHD who needed to feel genuinely connected to his work to stay engaged.

Beyond the practical support, Alex helped Javier truly understand what he wanted in a college experience and how to articulate his goals. The personal growth we witnessed was remarkable—Javier gained confidence in his abilities and developed better self-advocacy skills that will serve him well beyond college applications.

As a parent, I appreciated Alex's professional yet personal approach. He communicated regularly about Javier's progress and provided insights that helped our whole family navigate this important transition. For any parent whose child has ADHD or struggles with organization, Alex's specialized approach to college consulting is invaluable.
